On October 1, 2025, the mumok will be offering free admission, a free espresso, and music that connects.

Together with the Museum of Modern Art Ludwig Foundation Vienna, Lavazza celebrates International Coffee Day with a program that focuses on culture, enjoyment, and diversity. The highlight will be a performance by the mumok Women's Choir, which will showcase the power of community with songs from around the world.
International Coffee Day is young, but already a fixture in the global calendar. Since 2015, it has been celebrated every year on October 1st to highlight the universal significance of coffee: coffee is more than a beverage; it is a ritual, a moment of enjoyment, a catalyst for conversation, and a link between people all over the world. The day honors not only the journey of the bean from the bean's origin to the cup, but also the encounters that arise from it. At Lavazza, coffee is celebrated beyond the cup: with plenty of culture, music, and a vibrant diversity.

When diversity makes itself heard

For decades, Lavazza has been committed to art and culture projects that go far beyond traditional sponsorship ideas. At its core is the idea that coffee connects, just as art does. With this annual collaboration, Lavazza is supporting the mumok Women's Choir inclusion project: a choir in which women of diverse backgrounds come together, try out their voices and sing folk songs from all over the world, from Arabic and Farsi to Spanish, English and German. Under the direction of Diana Rasina, every rehearsal becomes a dialogue between cultures. The project was developed during the EU program COPE and today stands for lived diversity, participation and empowerment. The fact that the singers often draw inspiration from the museum's current exhibitions after rehearsals makes the mumok a place where art and community come together directly.

Let's celebrate: experience, enjoy, listen

And since Coffee Day is certainly a very special holiday, Lavazza invites all Viennese residents and guests of the city to celebrate International Coffee Day at the mumok. Admission to the museum is free – an invitation to engage with art and discover new perspectives. A Lavazza espresso awaits you in the café, which not only provides authentic Italian coffee enjoyment but is also seen as a symbol of encounter. The highlight of the day is the performance of the mumok Women's Choir: With voices from many cultures, they capture the message of the day – coffee connects, art connects, music connects.
