Balancing work and family is a daily challenge for many parents, especially during the summer holidays. Porr supports its employees with family-friendly programs.

The Porr Adventure Camp is starting: In the last week of July and the first week of August, the children of Porr employees in Austria will have two opportunities to experience a week full of adventure and fellowship on Lake Millstatt. Highlights include extensive kayaking and pedal boating trips and several excursions.

Around 60 girls and boys between the ages of seven and thirteen are participating this year. As befits a construction company, they're also gaining their first impressions of the construction site. They're demonstrating their skills at Porr's children's construction site in Klagenfurt – driving dump trucks and excavators, as well as making bricks. They'll also plant a tree, learn how to use a fire extinguisher with the help of occupational safety experts, and produce their own honey thanks to the on-site beehives.

“Arouse enthusiasm for our industry”

Porr CEO Karl-Heinz-Strauss explains: "Many children are getting their first taste of the construction site here. This is about providing family-friendly support to our employees, and also about sparking enthusiasm for our industry in young people at an early age. We are pleased that interest is particularly high among girls." Good skilled workers are still in demand in the construction industry, and recruiting can never start early enough. Therefore, Porr continuously cooperates with schools and training programs as part of its employer branding and hosts Girls' Day to introduce young people to the construction industry.

The Porr Kids Week in Vienna provides additional support during the holiday season. A diverse week awaits the young Porr residents. This year's plans include an interactive first aid course, a visit to the Vienna Museum (built by PORR), and exciting insights into the PORR Campus, the company's training center. Excursions to the Vienna swimming pools and the high ropes course provide plenty of action.

Porr also offers many family-friendly measures outside of the summer program. In addition to paternity leave and flexible working hours, there are also goodies like the Porr Baby Box. This is a small gift for the birth of a child and contains a personalized congratulations card and small gifts. At the headquarters in Vienna, employees have access to a parent-child office equipped with a workstation and a child-friendly play area.
