Sustainability certificates are considered the "green currency" of the real estate industry. In 2022, WIEN MITTE The Mall was the first shopping center in Austria to receive the DGNB certificate (GiB) in platinum. This certification has now been extended.

In order to be able to record and present the sustainability of one or more buildings in the most differentiated way possible, the system developed by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) evaluates buildings and districts. CC Real FM GmbH, a subsidiary of CC Real GmbH, has taken the lead in this process and has now successfully completed it again with the highest certification level. According to the DGNB system for buildings in operation (GiB20), criteria such as ecology, economy, socio-cultural and functional quality are taken into account.

The overarching goal is to support building operators, property owners and users in developing a sustainable, future-proof real estate strategy that is geared towards climate protection. By systematically examining all relevant information about the building and its actual properties, the usage situation and the real consumption values, the system helps to create transparency and identify optimization potential. This minimizes risks and increases investment security.

WIEN MITTE The Mall has been playing a pioneering role here for years. After WIEN MITTE The Mall was awarded a DGNB platinum certificate in 2022 as the first shopping center in Austria, this certification is now being extended by two years until 2027. WIEN MITTE The Mall center manager Florian Richter said: “Our property has a fully equipped meter/measurement and monitoring system for recording and analyzing consumption values for electricity, heat, cold and water. On this basis, numerous measures for energy optimization and CO2-Emission reduction implemented."
