1,900 participants ran in aid of the Sterntalerhof children’s hospice.

A few days ago, the Vienna Charity Run took place for the 12th time in Vienna's Türkenschanzpark, and the 6th Austria Charity Run took place virtually across Austria. This year, an incredible 1,900 participants ran, walked, or ran many kilometers for a good cause. Numerous celebrities, such as top runner Andreas Vojta and Kronehit presenter Captain Luke, also participated. The event has become the largest, entirely volunteer-organized charity run in Austria! Everyone involved in the event is working 100% on a voluntary basis for the project. The exact donation amount will be announced in the coming days.

The event traditionally began at 9 a.m., and participants could start and finish the run at any time until 2 p.m. Under the motto "Move to Change," each participant had the opportunity to complete as many 1.5-kilometer laps as they wanted, either individually or as a team, running, walking, or walking. This year, proceeds from the event will once again benefit the Sterntalerhof children's hospice, which provides support to seriously and terminally ill children and their families in difficult life situations.

In addition, participants had the opportunity to virtually collect kilometers for a good cause at the Austria Charity Run throughout Austria.

100% Volunteer-organized event

Despite their professional and academic commitments, the dedicated organizing team dedicates hundreds of hours of their free time to this volunteer project each year. The logistical effort required to set up and dismantle the event increases with each passing year: several tons of equipment, drinks, and food are positioned and prepared for the Vienna Charity Run. Just putting together the finisher bags requires over 100 volunteer hours and a great deal of manual labor each year to ensure a full goodie bag. Finally, the event itself requires the help of another seventy volunteers who ensure everything runs smoothly and make the event a unique charity run for the whole family.

Vienna Charity Run supports the mobile care of the Sterntalerhof

The Sterntalerhof children's hospice is located in Burgenland. An interdisciplinary team of therapists, educators, psychologists, and pastors works there. At the same time, the Sterntalerhof finances its work exclusively through donations and is therefore dependent on the support of civil society. "Against this backdrop, the 'Vienna Charity Run' benefit event for the hospice is doubly valuable: firstly, it represents an important source of donations, and secondly, it offers an optimal platform to draw media and public attention to the work at the Sterntalerhof. This support is just as important in the medium term as the financial aid," says Harald Jankovits, Managing Director of the Sterntalerhof Children's Hospice. Specifically, the donations from the Vienna Charity Run will be used to expand mobile care. This ensures that families continue to receive care at home from regionally qualified social workers even after their visit to the Sterntalerhof. With the donations received so far from the Vienna Charity Run, mobile care was launched and will now be continuously expanded.

The organizing association, Charity Sports, is a non-profit, charitable organization founded in 2012. It consists of competitive athletes and ambitious amateur athletes from a wide range of disciplines. The organization's goal is to raise funds for good causes and support people in need by organizing sporting events.
