“Falling Waves” in the courtyard of Braunspergengasse 4.

At Braunspergengasse 4 in Vienna's 10th district stands a showcase project of the "Sustainable Real Estate Fund Austria" – a multi-unit residential building that focuses on sustainability. Constructed with prefabricated brick walls made from recycled building materials and awarded "klimaaktiv Bronze," the building represents responsible, future-oriented construction. The energy supply for heating, hot water, and supplementary cooling in summer is provided in a particularly resource-efficient manner via deep geothermal drilling on the property, in combination with brine-water heat pumps.
Now this extraordinary property has been enriched by another dimension: a work of art by the Austro-Japanese artist Satoshi transforms the courtyard of the residential complex into a fascinating visual experience.

The impressive work "Falling Waves" creates a striking illusion of a wave seemingly breaking in the middle of the city. For the 15 x 5.5 meter artwork, Satoshi uses an innovative technique called Droneception, inspired by the film Inception. Numerous drone shots of European coastlines were merged into one image that—depending on the viewing angle—creates a completely new perception. From the courtyard, one seems to be standing directly on an ocean wave, while the view from the upper floors conveys the feeling of freefalling toward the sea.

In his work, the artist and film director combines Japanese aesthetics with classical Viennese cult tradition and crosses artistic and technical boundaries with “Falling Waves.”

Christian Schön, Managing Partner of AURIS Immo Solutions: "Falling Waves" combines art, sustainability, and urban space in an exciting dialogue. With this successful interplay, Braunspergengasse has become a flagship project for a livable, conscious, and sustainable community."
