Sun Contracting operates an 8,045 kWp PV system at the voestalpine Krems site and makes its surplus available to large-scale consumers as part of the Power4Business energy community.
This means that IMC Krems purchases the surplus electricity that voestalpine Krems cannot use at favorable conditions. This provides the university with additional solar power.
As one of the first participants, IMC Krems partially covers the consumption of several of its locations with renewable energy from this community, thus making a tangible contribution to the regional energy transition.
Bernhard Dollensky, COO of IMC Krems, emphasizes: "As a sustainable university, we bear responsibility – not only for teaching and research, but also for concrete climate protection measures. Our participation in Power4Business is another example of how we not only teach sustainability but also live it ourselves."
Ulrike Prommer, IMC Managing Director, adds: "Through our membership in the Power4Business energy community, we are strengthening Krems not only as an ecological but also as an economic location. It's clear that sustainability pays off in the long run for everyone involved."
