IT companies join forces at Clean-up Day with Planet Matters.

Working together for a clean city: The member companies of the Digital Mile Linz have set a clear example for sustainability. Numerous employees participated in the environmental campaign at the Clean-Up Day around the Danube embankment – organized in cooperation with the international initiative Planet Matters.
After the joint kickoff at TechcenterLinz, cross-company teams set out along the Danube to collect garbage. The results were surprising: In addition to a considerable amount of waste, they also found unusual items – from scrap iron, car parts, and deck chairs to shoes and a total of 378 cigarette butts. In the subsequent recycling and upcycling workshop, participants created creative souvenirs that they took home as mementos – along with the realization that a single discarded cigarette can contaminate up to 80 liters of drinking water. The day of action concluded with a convivial evening with plenty of opportunity for exchange and networking.
"We are proud that so many colleagues from the DIGITAL MILE companies participated. It's impressive to see what we can achieve together – both for the environment and for our sense of community," emphasizes Georg Spiesberger, initiator of the DIGITAL MILE Linz.
The Planet Matters team was also enthusiastic: "It's not just about collecting trash, but also about the experience of doing something meaningful together and thus setting an example. This energy was palpable at Clean-up Day in Linz," said Felix Krainer of Planet Matters.
Conclusion:
The Clean-up Day 2025 at the Digital Mile Linz demonstrated that innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand – and that the IT industry in Linz is actively committed to creating a livable environment.
