Universities have a special responsibility in the context of global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and resource scarcity. On the occasion of International Earth Day on April 22 The Alliance for Sustainable Universities, an association of 15 Austrian universities, invites you to Sustainability Day 2025. The members are committed to embedding sustainability holistically in the dimensions of teaching, research, university management, and cooperation and present a diverse and publicly accessible online program. In this way, the member universities are assuming their responsibility in the context of global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource scarcity. This year's event is hosted by FH Campus Wien, Austria's largest university of applied sciences.

Focus on sustainability: Innovations, strategies and solutions for a future worth living

The event's motto is based on International Earth Day: Under the title "Our Power Our Planet," interesting contributions are expected on the topics of energy, empowerment, innovation, and strength through collaboration. "The diversity of topics demonstrates how strongly sustainability influences all social and economic areas. As the Alliance for Sustainable Universities, we are actively committed to developing and implementing innovative solutions to jointly shape a sustainable society," says Elisabeth Steiner, Chairwoman of the Alliance for Sustainable Universities and Head of the Department of Social Affairs at FH Campus Wien.

FH Campus Wien – University for Future Topics

With approximately 8,500 students at two locations and two partner locations, FH Campus Wien is Austria's largest university of applied sciences. The departments of Applied Nursing Science, Applied Life Sciences, Construction and Design, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Technology, and Administration, Business, Security, and Politics offer nearly 70 degree programs and university courses, both part-time and full-time. Application-oriented research and development are concentrated in ten subject-specific research centers.
