Old favorites, new opportunities.

This isn't the first initiative – Tchibo has been running the "Second Life" campaign in partnership with Re-Use Austria since 2023, collecting everything from children's clothing to summer fashion. Over 20,000 kilograms of garments have been collected, processed, and reintroduced into circulation. This has not only conserved valuable resources but also supported numerous families.
Now it's the turn of vests and sweaters. "With our campaign, we want to raise awareness that fashion operates on a circular economy principle. Sweaters and vests often still have great potential to bring joy to others while simultaneously protecting the environment. This is sustainability in practice, which we want to promote together with our customers," says Paul Unterluggauer, Managing Director of Tchibo Austria.
How does it work? It's incredibly simple: Well-preserved clothing items are dropped off at the 120 stores, then sorted and refurbished by Re-Use Austria. Wearable items are resold as second-hand fashion or given away for free or at a significantly reduced price to people in urgent need. Items that are no longer wearable are recycled and reused as new raw materials.
“Circular fashion is no longer a theory, but a lived reality. More and more people are discovering that you can create real impact with simple steps,” says Matthias Neitsch, Managing Director of Re-Use Austria.
This campaign will not be the last. Further collection campaigns will follow in 2026 – from home textiles to women's and sportswear, and children's clothing.
