Staud's Vienna receives the EcoBusiness Award for the 5th time.

Sustainable business practices have been a priority for Staud's, a long-established company based in Vienna's Ottakring district, since its founding in 1971. The commitment to consistently offering the highest product quality has always been the driving force behind this. For five years now, Staud's has been a partner company of ÖkoBusiness Wien, the City of Vienna's environmental service program.
Continuity and reliability
These values are valued by both customers and partners at Staud's Wien. Both agricultural businesses and packaging suppliers have supported the company for decades, if not since the very beginning. The first octagonal glass jar was manufactured in the late 1980s by the Pöchlarn-based company Vetropack. Over time, it—along with the black cap—has become the trademark of the delicatessen manufacturer. And this is just one of many stories that form the core of Staud's corporate philosophy.
Zero food waste and life cycle assessment
As part of its partnership with ÖkoBusiness Wien, the company is continuously working on projects to prevent food waste. These include optimizing packaging sizes, improving product shelf life, and life cycle assessments. Creative reuse and upcycling ideas are also being developed, such as the crafting instructions for a floor lamp made from the packaging of the artistic Staud's Advent calendar. The focus continues to be on optimizing processes in waste management, food waste, and resource conservation.
Sustainable on many levels
"Sustainability has always been our philosophy!" says Stefan Schauer, Managing Director of Staud's Vienna. He has been with the company for almost 35 years. Many of the approximately 50 employees at the Vienna location are loyal to the business. Quite a few stay until retirement. "Often they are even sad to be leaving." Since last year, a stream with shrubs in the courtyard of the production site has been creating an even more pleasant working and microclimate. Originally designed as a planting area at Nordwestbahnhof for the Vienna Climate Biennale, Staud's is now reviving it in keeping with the reuse concept.
