Since 1998, OekoBusiness Vienna has been supporting companies in identifying potential savings in energy, waste and resources and in implementing improvements for the environment and climate, thus promoting more sustainable business practices.

Since 1841, Mautner Markhof has been committed to quality, taste, and the finest Viennese delicatessen tradition. The focus is not only on the continuous development of the product range, but also on the use of state-of-the-art technology in bottling, packaging, and distribution. The promotion of regional partners and an efficient, sustainable business model are integral parts of the company's philosophy.

In 2010, Mautner Markhof joined forces with OekoBusiness Wien, the City of Vienna's environmental service package, and implemented an environmental management system as part of its participation in the program. Since then, numerous environmental protection measures have been implemented, which have had a significant impact: For example, electricity consumption has been reduced by 32%. Renewable energies are also being used: A PV system covers approximately 17% of the company's electricity needs. Gas consumption has also been reduced by more than 30%. Since the start of the collaboration with OekoBusiness Wien, wastewater consumption has also been reduced by 38% per ton of food produced. "We are proud to be actively supporting Austria as a business location, promoting domestic agriculture and the sustainable use of resources," says Jürgen Brettschneider, Managing Director of Mautner Markhof, delighted with the company's successes so far and the latest award.

Mautner Markhof aims to continue moving step by step toward a more sustainable future. The central goal is to be climate-neutral by 2038. Innovative approaches, investments in new technologies, and optimization of existing processes will help achieve this goal. A key focus is on resource-efficient manufacturing of high-quality products. Measures to achieve this include, above all, the continuous reduction of water and energy consumption, as well as CO2emissions. With the renewed OekoBusiness Vienna award, the delicatessen manufacturer once again demonstrates its long-term and steadily growing commitment to leading the company into a more sustainable future through resource-saving and efficient business practices.
