LEDs achieve energy savings of up to 80 percent compared to conventional lights. The lighting division, a network partner of the FEEI, in collaboration with klimaaktiv, offers a compact overview of the advantages of LED technology as well as current funding programs in Austria - thus ensuring simple, cost-saving conversion in accordance with the EU ban on fluorescent lamps.
"One third of the electricity costs in a company are for lighting," says Heinrich Sachs, spokesman for the "Lighting Division of the FEEI," an association of well-known importers and lighting manufacturers in Austria. This puts lighting in third place in terms of energy consumption in companies - after heating and hot water. "The use of efficient light sources such as LEDs achieves enormous energy savings of up to 60 percent. In combination with automatic control, this is even 80 percent compared to conventional lights," says the expert.
Increase efficiency and reduce costs
The LED conversion indoors and outdoors ensures compliance with the mandatory EU ban on fluorescent lamps. This provides for the gradual phasing out of less efficient lamps such as halogen. They contain climate-damaging substances such as mercury or lead and may no longer be placed on the market in Europe. The renovation of the lighting system in offices, industrial halls or streets thus makes a valuable contribution to greater energy efficiency and low-carbon lighting. "The LED conversion is not only an effective means of saving energy and costs in the long term, but also an investment in sustainability," emphasizes Sabine Harrasko-Kocmann, head of the "Lighting Division at FEEI".
LED is worth it – Overview of funding offers
The "Light Division in the FEEI" and klimaaktiv provide information in their folder about the five steps of LED conversion in Austria - from information about the application to receiving the funding. "With our folder, we give companies and municipalities a compact overview of the easy switch to future-proof LED lighting," says Petra Lackner, klimaaktiv program manager for companies. The savings potential is enormous: Up to 30 percent of the costs are subsidized indoors, which is a maximum of EUR 300,000 within three years. The funding budget for an LED conversion outdoors is a maximum of 15 percent, which is up to EUR 4.5 million within three years.
LED lights the way to a climate-neutral future
The switch to LED is an efficient measure for decarbonizing the building and outdoor areas and makes an active contribution to a climate-neutral future.
